Pink, pink, pink!
I wrote previously about how popular pink cars have become recently, including Katie Price’s pink Range Rover with personalised number plate.
Little did I know that I was going to uncover a whole passion for pinkness!
Believe it or not, there are over 7,500 pink cars in the UK, according to the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders Ltd (SMMT).
So where are you all?!
One reader, Sali Gray, spotted our little article and got in touch to tell us about the annual Pink Car Rally.
The rally is in aid of the Little Princess Trust, which raises funds to provide wigs made of real hair for boys and girls suffering hair loss due to cancer treatment.
We think this is an amazing and fun way to raise funds – and it’s definitely unique! The first rally took place in 2008, with just 15 cars, including a Reliant Robin pulling a pink trailer. 2 years later, 39 cars took part – including a specially painted National Express coach. Sali herself has a pink Nissan Micra C&C Sport. And she’s been joined by lots of other pink cars, including Audi TT’s, a Mercedes, Ford Streetka’s, and even a Porsche. And this event can only get bigger, as more owners get to know about the Pink Car Rally.
If you have a pink car and fancy joining in, get ‘pinked up’ and get yourself down to Hereford Children’s Hospital on 4th September 2011. The convoy leaves at 10.30 am, taking a scenic route to Oxford. Looking at the pink car rally videos, it really does look like a great day.
The 2012 Pink Car Rally will run from Lands End to John O’Groats – it promises to be quite an event.
Be pink – and be proud!
